087 - Vicarious
Monday, September 17th, 2007Truly, Becky is cursed sometimes.
I try to write these posts ahead of time slightly; right now, it's 10pm on Sunday, two hours before the comic is to be published for Monday. I have text due for Thursday's continuation of Three Strikes And You're DEAD! But I have a horrible confession to make:
I haven't started it yet.
I blame procrastilazabusiness, that horrible amalgam of being just busy enough with work and tasks at home that the lazy part of you feels justified in procrastinating. It's a horrible affliction, insidious, because it has a tentative moral backing. The victim feels swamped by all the things he or she is doing, and the phantom weight of all the things he or she should be doing. As a result, none of those other things get done. Too busy, or rather, I would be if I were actually doing everything. By saying I'm too busy, I free up time to kill, to procrastinate by playing Persona 3 ("The strategy guide arrived in the mail finally! I can play it!"). This of course, is time I could have spent writing 3SAYD, but let's be realistic: I'm too busy to do that!
Luckily, I've come to my senses, so Rich will have a page in the afternoon, and you will see that page on Thursday.

I just want to apologize in advance for the upcoming hiatus what will be occurring in a couple weeks. It is as a result of my work schedule. As you may be aware, I work in the Visual Effects industry, which often has very hectic schedules. While I may find myself not working for months at a time, when I am working, I'm usually pulling 50-60+ hour weeks. As my work schedule becomes more and more demanding, working on the comic in the little free time that I have becomes more and more of a chore. Coinciding with a foreseeable spike in my work hours as projects that I'm working on enter "crunch time", Matt and I decided to put the comic on a hiatus, rather than try to produce substandard work or filler material. I hope we won't lose too many of you as readers because of this.
For the time being, enjoy the last few strips of the year as well as some of Matt's fiction.

Good luck on writing the text. I have a bit of the procrastilazabusiness bug with a little CRS syndrome mixed in. Not a good combination…
I agree with Becky - Loretta does need to get out and live a little. However, Becky living “through” Loretta is creeping me out slightly.
