040 - Pleased To Meet You…
Thursday, March 29th, 2007…Won't you guess my name? Somebody had to finish the reference.
I nearly missed updating the comic due to the onslaught of pure thematic brilliance that is Puzzle Quest. It took a few minutes for it to hit me full on; I'd lost four of my first five matches in Instant Play, and Quest Mode felt a bit like a slog. Then, I tried one last time, and had a breakthrough. It was similar to when Tetris finally made sense to me, and went from being an occasional pleasure to the reason my parents were buying 48-packs of AA batteries at CostCo every week. These were the heady days of 1991, when Tetris on the Game Boy was like a Dick Tracy watch communicator or a Star Trek tricorder: something so amazing you instantly forgot how life went on without it.
I'm not worried about Puzzle Quest. I can quit anytime I like… honestly. But if you see a strip with three panels of Dallas and Becky staring into two DS Lites, you'll know what they're playing.
