Leona’s Story - Part 1
Monday, March 5th, 2007So I'm back in Los Angeles and this is my first day at an old job. I'm starting work at Rhythm & Hues again, it's going to be a little weird coming back to all the new faces mixed in with the old. (Edit: Actually… Everyone is pretty much the same. Some people have left, but there aren't any new faces… yet.)
Anyway, this is the first part of a side story that Matt wrote for Leona. (I think she's his favorite character, and he's a little upset she got cut.) It'll run for the next two weeks. Then we'll pick up with some new lighthearted fun. (We have to have fun in between all the drama.)

While I wouldn't call Leona my absolute favorite character in EN, the final two strips of her run got me thinking about her in ways I hadn't before. She had a lot of history we hadn't written out in the strips, a history with Michael that went back to the beginning, when Rich and I were first brainstorming the story. In some ways, this four-part story links the first version of the comic — where Michael and Dallas are in high school — and the third version, where we are today. Not every detail, but enough to make us feel good about all the work we'd put into the first version.
