010 - Her Typewriter Spins The Ball Electric
Thursday, November 30th, 2006NaNoWriMo… I barely knew ye. You came into my life a month ago, gave me wings to fly, keys to pound, and coffee to chug. I came to enjoy your spontaneous ways, the moments when I felt like I could take on the world. I came to accept your doldrums and dry spells, the nights when I looked at my story and wanted only to rip it up in shame. But now you are over, and I am left with 50,070 words, and 5/6 of a novel remaining ahead of me.
It’s a long road, but I will travel it before we meet again.

I’m getting settled into my new job now. It’s quite disconcerting to go from a large studio to a small one. At Rhythm & Hues, there would be hundreds of people working on a large project. There were about 20 people doing the same job I was doing. Here at the Orphanage, the entire team for this project (a small part of a very large film) is less than 20 people. I am not only doing hair simulation, I’m the guy who has to figure out how to work hair into the project pipeline. Needless to say, I’m a little nervous about this. On top of that, it’s very likely that I will be doing other related tasks further down the line, like rigging and cloth simulation.
