008 - Lassies
Thursday, November 23rd, 2006Having two families — my girlfriend’s and my own — with amazing, long-standing traditions and recepies means having an embarrassment of riches: two Thanksgiving dinners. The last three times, we tried to eat two ginormous meals on the same day, but this year, my family graciously agreed to have Thanksgiving on Friday, giving me two days to enjoy two banquets.
Dallas, similarly, has an embarrassment of riches: two lassies. Lassies?! Yep, the boy’s got a Scottish accent. Whether the accent is real or affected, I guess you don’t know yet, but indeed, Dallas has an accent, and the word Lassie should give it away. Rich and I are working hard to make sure it doesn’t get in the way, but that it also exists and doesn’t randomly disappear for months at a time. There’s some other things about Dallas you might not know yet, but that’s for a latter strip.

Happy Turkey Day folks. I get to drive up the San Francisco in the holiday weekend. I anticipate a normally 6 hour drive turning into 8-9 hours. I’ll be staying with a friend in Alameda for the weekend, then I get to check into my hotel in the city on Monday, where I’ll be staying for about 3 months.
This is actually one of my favorite strips. I didn’t hate the way the characters came out looking in it. Li actually has some consistency to her in it.
I should also mention that Dallas is the name of a friend of mine. He has a fondness for rabbits, so when Matt suggested a character named Dallas, I said he’d have to be a rabbit. Other than that, he’s not based off the real Dallas.
