002 - Butterfly
Thursday, November 2nd, 2006NaNoWriMo started yesterday. A festival of Quantity Over Quality, this grand excursion tests the limits of one’s imagination, time-management skills, and ability to keep the internal editor from ruining everything. last year, I participated, and even won, amassing 50,091 words in 30 days.
This year, the stakes are much higher. Oh yes. Higher.
My novel this year will be gargantuan in size; my target is not a paltry 50,000 words. Oh no. The target number is closer to 72,000. And that’s only the first third. Yes, I believe this novel will take on proportions large enough to crush the spines of small children who try to pick it up in the library.
Luckily, I foisted a gaggle of strip scripts on Richard, cackling as I did. Like a doctor out to play 36 holes on a Thursday, I’m enjoying my trip into NaNo country. Like the guy in the movie trailers says:
“This time, it’s personal.”

So this project has quite an interesting history. It originally began around April or May, when I drew some furry skunk-girls while on idle time at work. At that point, Matthew expressed an interest in doing a sports related webcomic, and “Entre Nous” was born. Back then, it was going to be a comic about a furry high school softball team. Becky was a freshman pitching ace, and Li was the team captain, catcher, and slugger. I actually drew 3 or so strips for this idea. More on this next time…
